KBPCP are pleased to introduce a new format for our newsletter which will be distributed quarterly. We will continue to update our website on a regular basis between editions of the newsletter. Kingston Bayside Health and Wellbeing Strategic Directions Update
Background
Local Government, Community
Health Services and the PCP are required by legislative or funding
agreements to develop strategic public health / integrated health
promotion plans for their communities.
A unique opportunity has emerged, that post June 2009 the
planning cycles are aligned for the first time for each of these five
local Kingston Bayside plans.
This has presented an exciting opportunity to undertake a
collaborative planning process, to ensure common health and wellbeing
priorities and effective integrated health promotion activity across the
catchment.
Outcomes
A planning committee was established
with representatives from Kingston and Bayside City Councils, Central and
Bentleigh Bayside Community Health Services and the Kingston Bayside
PCP. After extensive consultation, the committee have now produced the final Kingston Bayside Health and Wellbeing Strategic Directions Paper which contains valuble information agencies may use to inform their planning for the next 3 years.
The final report is now available for viewing by clicking on the link above and supporting documents such as detailed demographic and
relevant population health data will be available via this website shortly.

2009-2012 KBPCP Strategic Planning
After wide ranging consultation, it is anticipated that the final draft Strategic Plan will be presented at the end of November after which responses will be sought from organisations in relation to the new Partnership Agreement and participation in the various Partnership Activities.
It is further proposed that a Forum will be held on February 3 to present the new Strategic Plan to the membership.
South East and Bayside Diabetes Alliance (SEBDA)
South East and Bayside Diabetes Alliance (SEBDA) has grown out of the enthusiasm and good will of agencies that gathered at a diabetes forum in October 2008, which sparked interest to form the alliance. Simone Gleeson has recently taken up the role of project worker for the newly formed SEBDA.
The alliance aims to “achieve access to appropriate care for people with diabetes through the development of a catchment wide, co-ordinated model of care”. This means defining clear pathways for people with diabetes, facilitating better integration between diabetes services, improving the access to and quality of care for people with diabetes and improving their health outcomes.

Kingston Public Health & Wellbeing Plan 2009-2013
The draft Kingston Public Health and Wellbeing Plan has been developed out of Council’s community and legal obligations under the new Public Health and Wellbeing Act (2008) which comes into effect in January 2010. Kingston City Council is currently inviting feedback and comment on the draft Kingston Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2009 - 2013. The plan and associated documents can be found on the Kingston City Council website.
